Wonderful garlic dishes were produced by the four different South Melbourne Market restaurants using Australian grown garlic from four of our members. These dishes were available right through the weeked at the market for anyone who wanted to come down and try. Paco Y Lola used Pokolbin Purple's Italian Pink in quesadillas, garlic prawns, guacamole and rice dishes. Claypots Evening Star used Freshwater Creek Organic Garlic's Italian Late green garlic roasted for two hours served with truffle oil and tiny pieces of black garlic. köy restaurant used Peter and Nancy Hackett's Australian Red garlic with baby beetroot and mushrooms as well as added garlic puree and tiny chips of crispy fried garlic. And finally Simply Spanish used Connie and Sam Ruberto's Italian Purple garlic in their paella, garlic prawns and mushrooms with garlic. All absolutely delicious and wonderful to see different garlics being used in so many different ways. it was great to be able to share the importance of garlic with so many people. Thanks to everyone who came down, the growers who provided the garlic, the restaurants for their delectable dishes, to Georgie and Michael from Georgie's Harvest for their support and to South Melbourne Market. Also Jane Edmanson who talked about it on 3AW and Hilary Harper and Carolyn Blackman who interviewed Penny and allowed her to talk garlic and answer garlic related questions for nearly 30 minutes.
